Seminar Workshop Programme

Participants select two from the following workshops, which will each draw on and present relevant case studies and examples from countries in the region and elsewhere.

  1. Basic principles for effective road safety
    Introductory workshop on the scale of the road safety problem in the region and the principles of prevention.
     
  2. Effective road safety management for the Decade of Action
    Exploration of and discussion on the structures and processes required for effective road safety management, including developing a multi-sector approach.
     
  3. Evaluating road safety initiatives
    Planning for effective evaluations of road safety initiatives.
     
  4. Data systems
    Establishing effective data systems for planning and evaluation, using the Crash and Injury Data Management Systems Good Practice Manual.
     
  5. Focus on child road safety
    Exploration of and discussion on child road safety issues in the region and different approaches to addressing these issues in the region and elsewhere. This will include an examination of road safety education programs and initiatives such child helmet wearing.
     
  6. Focus on youth road safety
    Developing an understanding of youth road safety issues in the region and different approaches to addressing these issues, including engaging with young people.
     
  7. Creating a World Free of High Risk Roads – Part 1
    Exploration and discussion of key strategies and targets for infrastructure for the UN Decade of Action, and examples of targeted action by two countries in the region.
     
  8. Creating a World Free of High Risk Roads – Part 2
    Discussions on infrastructure safety projects from several countries in the region, focusing on the assessment of high risk roads, integrating iRAP outcomes with road authority operations, setting new standards for safety performance and national road safety strategies.
