Cambodia will play host to the 4th GRSP Asia Seminar and this year’s theme is:
"PREPARING FOR THE DECADE OF ACTION ON ROAD SAFETY"
The seminar’s key objectives this year are to:
- stimulate planning for the United Nations Decade of Action on Road Safety
- develop networks to support information, good practice and knowledge sharing
- update representatives on global, regional and country developments
- review progress on implementation of key initiatives in the region,
- highlight key road safety issues for countries in Asia, with a special focus on children and youth.
The GRSP Asia Seminar provides an important opportunity for networking, information sharing and capacity building. Key representatives from Asian countries attend the seminar, including:
- senior government officials, from road safety, transport, health and police
- road safety researchers and experts
- representatives of NGO’s working in road safety in the region
- business representatives with an interest in road safety.
The main seminar program will be on 3-4 November and followed by an iRAP workshop on 5 November.
The seminar is organised by GRSP with funding via the Global Road Safety Initiative (GRSI) programme and its partners. Supporting the seminar this year are the International Road Assessment Program (iRAP), FIA Foundation’s “Make Roads Safe”, the Asian Development Bank and the World Health Organisation (WHO).
GRSP is a hosted programme of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) that brings together governments, governmental agencies, the private sector and civil society organisations to make a difference in road safety in low and middle income countries.
